Earlier this month, the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina, became the backdrop for an incredible gathering of Black clergy during the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Black Ministers Retreat. On March 11-12, 2025, Rev. Dr. Heber Brown, III joined ministers from across the country to share powerful reflections on the sacred connection between faith and food justice.

During his presentations, Dr. Brown dove deep into the work of The Black Church Food Security Network, illustrating how churches can transform their green spaces into gardens and their congregations into hubs of food sovereignty. His stories of resilience, hope, and the rediscovery of ancestral wisdom resonated with those in the room, sparking heartfelt conversations about the ways our faith can be lived out through community care.

We are thrilled to continue cultivating a partnership with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as we unite in our shared vision for justice, healing, and liberation—not just for our people, but for the earth we all call home.
