Not all churches in The Black Church Food Security Network have gardens. Some of our member churches partner with us to host Black farmer’s markets. Other member churches work with us to buy in bulk from Black farmers. We’re not a one-size-fits-all organization because all of our churches are different. The thing we have in common though is an urgent recognition that the preponderance of liquor stores, corner stores and poor food choices is literally robbing us of life. If we don’t intervene now, we will continue to perish and soon at even higher rates.
Apostle Robert Stanford from our Jacksonville Chapter gets it. He shared these powerful words at one of our recent membership meetings. Our next meeting is Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 7PM ET. This is a safe space for African American church members AND Black folks that may not be Christian, but are interested in working for Black #foodsovereignty *through* church mobilization.
